Farmers have a great need for information about the changeover to decentralised solar energy supply on their farms. This was demonstrated by the crowds that flocked to the photovoltaic suppliers' stands at this year's Energy Decentral. For four days, farmers were able to find out about the possibilities of photovoltaics specifically for their businesses at the trade fair in Hanover. Energy Decentral is part of the Euro Tier trade fair for the energy transition on farms.
Various topics addressed
The discussions at the booths repeatedly demonstrate that farmers are very interested in solar energy and are focussed on different goals. It is not only the large agri-PV system that provides a more stable second source of income for the company. The direct supply of energy to farms was also a recurring topic in discussions and in the planning of specific projects.
Experts provided information
The fact that farmers are looking for lots of information about the possibilities of photovoltaics in agriculture was also demonstrated by the lively attendance at the expert stage of the Solar Offensive, which was organised by the editors of photovoltaik and pv Eurpope together with the DLG. The daily presentation programme provided plenty of information about solar energy and the experts were able to answer visitors' basic questions.

Advice on specific projects
In-depth discussions were held at the consultation tables. Here, experts from the suppliers were available for discussions and the planning of specific projects in addition to the offers at the exhibition booths. This offer was also well received. The discussions showed that the farmers came to the consultation with concrete project ideas. It was not uncommon that an area of land was available to be used for photovoltaics and the question of how such a project could be realised took centre stage.

Decentralised energy supply in focus
A total of 120,000 investment-minded trade visitors came to Euro Tier in Hanover and a large proportion of them came to find out about the possibilities of using solar energy at Energy Decentral. After all, the latest offers for decentralised energy generation were one of the topics that met with particular interest at the trade fair, as Ines Radtke, project manager of Euro Tier, confirms on the basis of recent surveys among visitors. Preparations are now beginning for the next Energy Decentral, which will take place in Hanover from 10 to 13 November 2026. The photovoltaik and the pv Europe editorial team will be on site again to continue the solar offensive. (su)
