The European industry association SolarPower Europe has set up the Agrisolar Digital Platform and put it online. Here, interested farmers can find showcase examples of how dual use of land can work for agricultural production on the one hand and solar power generation on the other.
On the website you will find all reports from SolarPower Europe on the topic of agriphotovoltaics and solar energy in agriculture. The association also puts current events and articles on this topic online here.
Agrisolar platform helps farmers with the implementation
The newly launched platform serves as a central contact point for farmers and project developers to understand the principle of agriphotovoltaics and to implement appropriate solutions and projects.

"After all, farmers have always generated energy from the sun. From arable farming to livestock breeding. Now the next step is solar energy," reasons Lina Dubina, policy advisor on sustainability at SolarPower Europe. "Agrisolar helps farmers decarbonise, reduce water consumption and save on energy costs. We are proud to support agriculture and the energy sector on their journey with Agrisolar."
Agri-PV guide published
At the same time, the association has developed a guide to agri-PV. It provides a tailor-made assessment system to evaluate the performance of Agri-PV projects against the agricultural, environmental, social and economic quality criteria over the lifetime of the solar installation. Examples are given of projects across the EU including crop yields, water use, land efficiency, biodiversity enhancement and socio-economic benefits.
This guide is also available on SolarPower Europe's new digital platform Agrisolar, but can also be downloaded from the association's website. (su/mfo)
