The carport, which was commissioned by Porsche from I+R Energie, provides space for two sports cars under glass elements with photovoltaic cells. The solar power system supplies up to 2,900 kilowatt hours per year. Enough solar power for up to 8,000 kilometers of purely electric driving.
The charging stations are integrated into the steel supports. The 50 percent transparent glass roof lets sufficient daylight through, but also provides the necessary shade in summer. Rainwater is discharged into the foundation by the cross beam of the steel construction through an invisible downpipe. The prototype was used for the first time on the North Sea island of Sylt, where it defies strong winds and salty sea air. The carport was erected on site by local technicians. (mfo)
