Volta's battery supplier Proterra filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US in August. This "had a significant impact on our production plans and reduced our projected production volume of vehicles", writes Volta Trucks. The uncertainty with the battery supplier also made it difficult "to raise sufficient capital in an already difficult capital environment for electric vehicle suppliers".
Production had already started
Yet production of the Volta Zero had just started this April at Steyr in Austria. The Volta Zero is a truck specially developed as an electric truck. Most e-trucks on the market are conversions of corresponding diesel vehicles.
