In just two years of construction, a forge for e-cars was built east of Berlin. Initially, 3,000 jobs were created, with another 9,000 to follow.
The US car manufacturer Tesla has officially opened its factory in Grünheide near Berlin. After two years of construction, the world's most modern plant for e-cars has been created. Initially, 3,000 employees will work in the new factory; at full capacity, the number is expected to reach 12,000. The factory, including all buildings and ancillary areas, occupies a total of 227,000 square meters.
Up to 500,000 e-cars per year
Today, Tesla already delivered the first models of the new Tesla Y to its customers. Now, up to 500,000 e-cars per year are to roll off the assembly lines. Tesla also wants to produce new types of batteries in Grünheide.
The battery plant is currently still under construction. Delivery of the first series-produced vehicles started with a delay of around nine months. The final operating permit was received in Grünheide only two weeks ago.
