The new Nissan Leaf will be presented in September and will be released by the end of the year. Insiders expect that the electric car gets a 60 kWh strong Li-ion battery. The current and second generation of the Nissan Leaf is equipped with a 21 kilogram 30 kWh battery and comes according to the NEDC standard 250 kilometers with a battery charger. The range for a 60 kWh battery is estimated to be at least 400 kilometers according to the NEDC standard, but less realistic in daytime operation. This will bring the Nissan Leaf alongside its group brother Renault Zoe and close to the range of the new Opel Ampera-e.
Battery leasing starting 79 Euro monthly
The selling price of the currently available Leaf with the 30 kWh battery starts at 33.960 Euro including battery (minus buyer`s premium). Anyone who rents the battery pays about 6,000 euros less. Depending on the driving performance (12,500 to 25,000 km), the monthly rental fee is between 79 and 142 Euro. Nissan wants to offer the new Leaf with different battery sizes and thus different prices.
Bidirectional charging possible
The Chademo plug of the Nissan Leaf allows the bidirectional charging, so it is suitable as buffer storage for renewable energies. Also included is an onboard charging cable for charging with 3.3 kWh. As a premium, there is also a fast charging system with 50 kWh available, which brings the battery back to 80 percent of its power in half an hour. For a surcharge of 300 euros, there is a solar rear spoiler, which supplies the radio, heating and automatic climate control with solar power.
The electric motor of the current Nissan Leaf delivers 80 kW / 109 hp. If you don`t want too much dynamics, you'll find it easy in the inner city and the surrounding countryside. (hcn)
