The intelligent charging box from Sonnen can automatically charge electric cars with their own solar power from the roof or from the solar battery. Various modes are possible, so that the user can decide whether he wants to charge his car, for example, as fast as possible or with the maximum share of their own solar power. In order to be able to control or adapt the charging process at any time, users also receive the clearly designed app for the sonnenCharger.
However, the new approach lies in the fact that the sonnenCharger networks the vehicles with the sonnenCommunity. Electric cars thus become part of Sonnen's virtual power plant, which consists of clean power generators, storage facilities and consumers. If, for example, there is too little solar power available for charging the vehicle, surplus electricity will be used by other members of the solar community.
The sonnenCharger can be ordered from now on and will be available from the second quarter of 2018. Almost all current vehicle models with up to 22 kilowatts can be charged via the Type 2 plug. (nhp)
