So far, Green Cell has been mainly offering batteries and charging accessories for mobile devices such as laptops and smart phones. Why are you now stepping into the field of e-mobility, energy storage and renewable energies?
Sustainability has been at the core of our corporate strategy since Green Cell was founded in 2013. We only offer high-quality, long-lasting rechargable batteries as well as quick-charging technology. We also rely on multifunctional solutions that are compatible with products from different manufacturers. This includes, for example, our USB-C multi-port charger “Power Source” with 60 Watt output power, which is suitable for all notebooks with PD (Power Delivery) specification and can be used to charge additional devices, e.g. Smartphones, via additional ports at the same time.
We see ourselves as part of the transformation towards a more climate-friendly and sustainable society and want to offer consumers solutions for this. We see a rapidly growing market in the field of electromobility, storage and self-consumption of solar power. This not only applies to Germany as one of our key target markets, but also to our home market in Poland, where a number of funding programs have recently been launched.
Do you already offer any such products? And can you talk about products in development?
Yes, we offer a 6400 mAh GC SolarCharge, for example. It can be charged via a foldable solar module with an output of 21 W and an efficiency of 25 percent. In addition, we have been offering charging cables for electric vehicles since last year, which we sell via Amazon and other channels. For example, the three-phase GC type 2 charging cable, with 32 A rated current, with which electric cars with an output of up to 22 kW can be charged very quickly – whether it is a Tesla, Hyundai Kona or Renault Zoe.
By the end of this year, we also want to sell charging cables with Bluetooth functionality, an integrated charging display and improved ergonomics. We also want to offer wall boxes in the near future and, in the medium term, batteries for home storage so that customers can use the solar power they have generated even more efficiently.
The market is highly competitive, and many large providers are already established in this area. How do your products and solutions stand out from the competition?
On the one hand, we rely very heavily on ergonomics and functional design, such as low weight. In addition, our focus is on innovations such as integrated charging displays which enables the users to directly check the charge status of their e-vehicles, even if there is no internet connection and without having to open a smartphone app. In addition, Tesla, for example, does not offer any charging cables for three-phase charging with 17 KW. In particular, the current Tesla Model 3, which is very popular, is currently only offered in Germany with a single-phase mobile charging cable with 7.2 kW for cost reasons. We want to cover this gap with our more powerful three-phase charging cable.
Have you ever met Elon Musk and discussed this with him?
I would definitely like to! As a leading provider of charging solutions, Tesla is very important. But we are still very much in the process of building-up and growing in this area. We now want to enter the market with the best possible new products.
You mainly sell your products online. What service do you offer?
We not only sell our products, we also provide comprehensive customer service. Our multilingual customer service center offers intensive advice and information on the latest technological developments. Then there is also our after-sales service, which provides full support to our clients in case of any questions or complaints about purchased products.
Do you develop and manufacture your products yourself?
For our new charging products we plan to cooperate with a polish factory or later manufacture ourselves. Our research and development department is based in Krakow with currently 15 employees, from electronics engineers to industrial designers. We also cooperate with scientific institutions such as the AGH University of Science and Technology University of in Krakow. Research and development is extremely important for our further corporate development, we invest around 50 percent of our profit in R&D.
