Solarwatt expands in UK – new hires

This week Solarwatt announced the appointment of Trevor Treleven as Technical Support and Sales Engineer.

Working with Neal Goddard, UK Sales Manager, Trevor will be responsible for providing expert technical support and advice to the company’s installer and partner network throughout the UK and Ireland.

A BSc Honours graduate in environmental resource management and renewable energy technologies, Trevor previously worked in senior technical roles for a number of solar PV, solar mounting and energy storage providers. Before retraining to work in renewable energy, he was an IT engineer, working in industry and for central Government.

“Trevor is a key appointment for Solarwatt as we continue to fulfil our ongoing expansion plan for the UK market while delivering the highest standards,” said Neal Goddard.

“We have seen exponential growth in our sales numbers and adding a third, technically skilled person to our UK support team is another step in fulfilling our ambitious goals and gaining market share. This year we are looking to quadruple our 2020 figures, after achieving 100% growth compared to the previous year.”

Pol Spronck, Sales Director Nordics, UK and Ireland at Solarwatt, said: “We continue to expand our UK team and are seeking two further key people – one to manage all our marketing activities, and another sales manager. There will be more news regarding our strategic focus on the UK solar market, the future looks bright for us. Having Trevor on board is another fantastic step in that direction.”

Solarwatt has sold around 4MW in Q1 this year in the UK and Ireland, Spronck told pv Europe. “This reflects the company’s evolving strategy, shifting focus to develop our installer network – they like working with our products and we see more repeat business from them. We are supplying complete systems as well as panels”, he said.

High demand for glass-glass solar panels

“Now we are also involved in tenders supplying larger, public-sector clients as well as our activities in residential and C&I (commercial and industrial). There is more appetite for glass-glass panels due to growing awareness of fire safety, longevity and long warranties. German-made panels are in higher demand”, Spronck said.

More than 14 GW PV are meanwhile installed in UK, with 175 MW added between January and March 2021. Solar Energy UK expects further strong growth in all market segments. (hcn)
