The German Solar Industry Association (BSW) welcomes unanimous reports from the grand coalition that the funding cap for new solar power systems is now to be "lifted without delay". "We hope that this is indeed the long-awaited rescue. Now there is no more time to lose. The agreement must become law as early as next week, so that the solar lid will fall just in time," explains Carsten Körnig, Chief Executive Officer of the BSW.

According to BSW calculations, the subsidy restriction, which applies to an installed photovoltaic capacity of 52 gigawatts, could otherwise be reached as early as July 2020. In the absence of the discovery, the BSW estimates that the solar market in Germany would be more than halved. Even a temporary interruption of subsidies would cause massive damage to the solar industry. According to a representative survey in February, three quarters of the population had spoken out in favour of continuing the solar promotion in order not to jeopardise the implementation of the climate targets.
Agreement also on wind turbines
According to reports, there has just been an agreement between the deputy fraction leaders on this issue. The agreement was immediately preceded by an agreement on the question of appropriate distance rules between wind turbines and residential buildings, which had been a matter of dispute for months. The dispute over the latter blocked the repeatedly promised removal of the 52 gigawatt subsidy cap in the Renewable Energy Sources Act. (HCN)
