Belectric, a Germany-based company, is further increasing its footprint in India’s ever-growing solar industry: the company has been appointed as the EPC (engineering-procurement- construction) service provider for a large-scale solar project by Cleantech Solar, a leading developer, owner, and operator of Commercial and Industrial solar energy systems in Southeast Asia and India.
The photovoltaic (PV) project will have a total capacity of over 100 megawatt (MW) and will be delivered in three construction phases: the first phase of close to 50 MW is already under construction. The entire solar farm is expected to be built within this year.
Long-standing cooperation of Belectric and Cleantech Solar
“We are very pleased that our strong growth path in one of the leading PV markets is based on long-term partnerships with key account customers like Cleantech Solar, who value our focus on quality in engineering, project management and HSE,” explains Ingo Alphéus, CEO of Belectric Solar & Battery.
Belectric has been working closely with Cleantech Solar for the past few years and this is the eighth project on which both companies are working together. Other projects include two PV rooftop projects which rank with a combined capacity of 26 MW amongst Asia’s largest rooftop installations.
Strong focus on health, safety and environmental standards
Cleantech Solar’s Founder and Executive Chairman, Mr. Raju Shukla, said: “We are pleased to be building on Belectric’s experience as one of the most established EPCs in India. Together, we strive to provide the highest quality plants with stringent Health, Safety and Environment standards. We continue to deliver the best value to our customers in meeting their carbon reduction goals whilst achieving maximum savings on power costs.”
Jitendra Singh, CEO and Managing Director of Belectric Photovoltaic India, adds: “We at Belectric India like to put in a lot of effort into building trust with our customers, and this eighth project for one of our most important customers in India, is a perfect testimony to our way of working. We are looking forward to further strengthening our collaboration with the realisation of this large-scale solar plant.”
1,2 GW solar projects in India
Belectric has 20 years of experience in power plant construction and to date has built almost 4 gigawatts (GW) of capacity worldwide. Its Indian subsidiary, Belectric Photovoltaic India, is one of the most established EPCs in the country. Since 2009, the company has been involved in solar projects in India with an installed capacity that is on track to reach 1.2 GW by the end of March 2021.
Last year, Belectric delivered a 250 MW-AC solar plant for its customer Fortum on time and to a high quality. This project in Karnataka is the largest capacity installation Belectric has carried out in India so far. After the successful delivery of the project, the company is now operating the solar plant on behalf of the owner. Another project of this size is also under construction for Fortum in Rajasthan and is scheduled to be fully grid connected in the second quarter of 2021. (hcn)
