BayWa r.e. expands in Ireland by partnering with Rengen Power

Together, BayWa r.e. and Rengen Power intend to realise wind projects with a total output of 350 MW over the next three years and thus play a significant role in the development of the wind energy market in Ireland.

In addition, further opportunities to develop renewable energy projects throughout the country will be explored.

Declan Cullinane, Country Manager Ireland, BayWa r.e. Ireland Ltd, comments: "We are delighted to be expanding our presence in the Irish market with this important partnership. Rengen Power is the perfect partner for us to strengthen our commitment to Ireland. We have a similar history of origins, a similar approach to development and the same responsible attitude towards the environment. We are both keen to build good relationships with communities at a local level."

Operate without subsidies

Gordon MacDougall, Managing Director, BayWa r.e. UK Ltd, added: "Thanks to the cooperation with Rengen Power, we have expanded BayWa r.e.'s current project pipeline in Ireland to 600 MW. The cooperation will enable us to realise subsidy-free projects and support the Irish government's goal of switching 70% of the electricity supply to renewable energies by 2030. This will put us in a leading position in the Irish market."
