Leaders of our industry: Steffen Wiedmann of Axitec

Last week, we introduced you to Florian Chan of Sungrow. Now say hello to Mr Steffen Wiedmann, CEO of Axitec, who also was kind enough to answer our six questions:

1. How are you personally – and as a company – coping with the corona crisis?

My family and my colleagues are all in good health so far. In the last few weeks we have been working mainly from home but starting May 5 we are going back to the office, taking the necessary safety precautions.
All over the world we are seeing uncertainty in the solar market, which also had a slight impact on the sales figures in April, but I am very optimistic about the future, since we are currently experiencing an increase in demand again.

2. What are you enthusiastic about, apart from your company?

I am a family man and I spend as much time as possible with my 13-year-old daughter.
In my free time I like to be outside for jogging or cycling. In summer I am an enthusiastic mountain hiker, but I also love to sit by the sea and watch the sunset. I am always open for new cultures, landscapes and countries.

3. What social media account or podcast makes your life better?

Axitec posts a lot on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook, our target is to increase our presence on Social Media. Personally I am only active on XING and LinkedIn.

4. Whom would you like to meet/have met?

I once listened to Bill Clinton lecture at an event years ago. It was very inspiring.
Barrack Obama is one of the people I would like to meet in person. Apart from that I have already met all the people who were important and interesting for me.

5. If you could change one thing in the world – other than the corona crisis, of course – what would it be?

Even more than the corona virus, I am concerned about the environmental and climate catastrophe to which we are heading ever faster.
It is frustrating to see how we are destroying our environment with our eyes wide open. Everybody knows it, but the politicians - and all of us - are not brave enough to take the really decisive big steps.

6. What aspect of your company’s work are you most proud?

I am proud of the development that the Axitec brand has undergone in recent years. The internationalisation in particular makes me very proud. The solar modules of the Axitec brand are now known in almost every country in the world. This is thanks to Axitec and especially to my colleagues. Without them this would not be possible. That is why I can only thank my colleagues for their enthusiasm and commitment every day. (mfo)
