The project has already started in December 2021 and covers Elektrilevi's entire grid area with more than 650,000 tapping points. The grid area covers about 95 per cent of the total area of Estonia. The companies Enefit, Elektrilevi and Envelio are working together on the Intelligent Grid Platform project in Estonia. "The further automation of Elektrilevi's grid planning processes will enable us to handle the increasing number of new connection requests in an efficient way while ensuring the best grid service for our customers," promises Meelis Melder, Head of Planning and Project Management at Enefit.

"Estonia represents a European role model in the field of digitalisation," confirms Simon Koopmann, CEO and co-founder of Envelio. The start-up is a spin-off of RWTH Aachen University and enables distribution grid operators to master the next phase of the energy transition with the Intelligent Grid Platform. Grid planning and operational management processes are thus digitalised and automated. The core of the technology is optimisation and machine learning algorithms. (nhp/mfo)
