This is made possible by the use of 108 monocrystalline half cells with PERC technology. These are mounted on the flat-plate collector with a collector efficiency of 60 percent. By using and removing the waste heat from the solar cells, the cell temperature drops from the usual 65 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius. The waste heat can in turn be used as a flow for a heat pump. At the same time, the Sunmaxx PX-1 is only about 3.5 kilograms per square metre heavier than a comparable conventional solar module.
