The company Citel Electronics has a new type 1 and 2 combination arrester designated DS50PVS-1000G/12KT1. According to the manufacturer, a safe and correct connection of the lightning and surge protection device is assured by the failsafe Y-circuit.
A circuit breaker immediately disconnects the circuits and sends an optical signal to the device. In addition, the status can be read out at any time by an isolated contact. The device complies with the standards EN 50539-11, VDE 0675-39-12, VDE 0185-305-3 Supplement 5 and VDE 0100-712.
Citel explains that the system can be run economically thanks to operation free of leakage currents. Furthermore, insulation faults that do happen will not cause any damage. The device is also modularly equipped with pluggable, exchangeable safety modules, which allow quick and easy maintenance. (nhp/mfo)
