Built under the Jordanian Renewable Energy Program, the 22 MW PV plant is developed by Scatec Solar and its local partner European Jordanian Renewable Energy (EJRE). Scatec Solar owns 50.1% of the project company, while EJRE holds 49.9%.
PPA with state utility
The plant is built on an area of approximately 51 hectares, which is equivalent to about 95 football fields. Situated about 225 km south of the capital city Amman, the 22 MW plant will produce electricity in excess of 52,000 MWh annually. The plant is connected to a substation built and controlled by the state utility, NEPCO, with whom Scatec Solar has signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
The clean energy produced by the PV installation will avoid 33,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year and serve the electricity need of about 10,000 households annually. (HCN)
