Solaredge sures up its chip supply chain with Infineon

Israeli power electronics supplier Solaredge has signed a multi-year capacity reservation agreement with chipmaker Infineon. The two companies are thus expanding their existing partnership. According to the agreement, Infineon will supply increasing quantities of chips for various Solaredge products over the next few years.

Securing accelerated growth

In addition to the Capacity Reservation Agreement (CRA), the two companies will collaborate on the development of future technologies and innovative solar products based on so-called Wide Bandgap (WBG) materials. These in turn are critical to the global supply of green energy. "Our long-standing collaboration with Solaredge is a tremendous asset for both companies, paving the way for innovation and accelerated growth as we combine our expertise and resources," said Andreas Urschitz, head of marketing at Infineon. "With the recent investments in silicon carbide and gallium nitride manufacturing capabilities, Infineon underlines its commitment to be a leading partner in climate technologies such as solar energy."

For Solaredge, it is a foundation to secure supply chains and development capabilities for new products, as Uri Bechor, COO at Solaredge, points out. (su/mfo)
