Hybrid PV systems are steadily gaining popularity, providing a number of advantages for the users and the environment. The combination of a PV system with a battery offers better efficiency, less dependency of the grid, higher utilization of the solar yield and greater stability and safety, via the back-up function, to mention some of the advantages of this solution. Sungrow, the leading PV inverter and energy storage systems manufacturer, with more than 405GW installed globally up to June 2023, recently presented the new generation of 3-phase Solution that will be soon available in Sweden, Italy, and the DACH region. The new 3-phase Solution provides more power (up to 25kW), full back-up (up to 43kVA, up to 15/20/25 kVA supported at grid-outage) and more energy storage (up to 40kW per battery tower). The innovative characteristics of the product are impressive, though equally important is the right process for a successful installation of a hybrid system, in order to provide the best service to the user and an efficient and trouble-free operation for the installer. Saleh Alnsour, product manager at Sungrow, explains to PV Europe the main elements for a flawless PV hybrid system installation, in order to get the operation right the first time.
The importance of the right product:
First things first. The choice of the right product is essential for the installation taking always in consideration the needs of the customer. The solution should be designed to provide efficient, safe and reliable operation under all circumstances. Sungrow’s new 3-phase Hybrid inverter range from 15 kW to 25 kW and have an impressive degree of protection of IP65 and a full range of safety and function characteristics, such as grid monitoring, DC reverse polarity protection, AC short-circuit protection, leakage current protection and surge protection. Equally the new SBH Battery (from 10 kWh to 40 kWh per tower), is IP55 certified and designed with over/under voltage protection, over current protection, over/under temperature protection and DC breaker. Moreover, according to Mr. Alnsour, it has been certified with the most updated safety standards and designed with multiple layers of redundant measurements for maximum safety. Another important factor is that the products provide an easy installation process, easy connection and all the essential parts are included in the delivery (of the SHT), such as the Energy Meter, a set of three Current Transformers and the Sungrow WiNet Communication Module in this case.
Preparation and pre-installation support:
As the Hybrid Systems have a higher degree of complexity compared to tradition PV residential systems, the preparation before the installation is important for the quality and time efficiency of the process. “We always take very seriously the preparation of the installers in order to allow them to have a trouble-free and safe installation of our solutions”, said Mr. Alnsour. “For our new 3-phase Solution we have prepared a dedicated webinar on March 27th, that all the installers can join for free by registering at cleanpowerfor.com/new-generation. More than a presentation, the interaction between us and the installer at the webinar is what secures that all questions will be answered before even the installer reach the installation site.”
Having more than 27 years of successful experience in the PV inverters sector, Sungrow has an impressive range of solutions for residential, C&I and Utility scale projects. The latest 3-phase Solution that has just been released, boasts an impressive list of characteristics for more power, back-up capabilities and energy storage. The Solution includes the new generation of SHT inverters ranging from 15kW to 25kW and the new SBH Battery with 10 kWh to 40 kWh energy storage per tower. The new SBH has higher charging and discharging current (50 A) and it is possible to connect a whole house load (up to 43 kVa). With the seamless transition time of less than 10ms, the new SHT and SBH significantly enhance the backup function, ensuring uninterrupted power supply and superior performance during outages.
