Obton announced the successful launch of its new Global Monitoring Centre in Milan, Italy. The modern centre, which is now fully operational, will take over the monitoring of plants with a total capacity of two gigawatts. Previously, responsibilities were split between several independent O&M providers. The new solution, which centralises plant operations, represents a significant advantage for Obton.
The most important tool for monitoring plant performance at the centre is the VCOM (Virtual Control Room) software provided by Meteocontrol. Bringing all assets together on this unified monitoring platform, managed directly by Obton, improves data control and provides optimal knowledge for timely and accurate decision making.

The VCOM platform was originally selected by Simon Russold, Head of Commercial Asset Management at Obton. He recognised the benefits of the platform due to its comprehensive features, which perfectly match Obton's requirements for a monitoring system. The proven features enable seamless integration and efficient management of asset operations.
The key advantages:
1. Detailed monitoring of all plants with VCOM from Meteocontrol combined with a highly skilled team results in minimised downtime and optimised production.
2. Preventive and corrective maintenance tasks are carried out by external partners, while Obton retains full operational responsibility. This improves control over on-site activities. Resources are optimised as roles are clearly delineated.

3. Control over data leads to improved reporting, performance measurement and control.
4. Optimised production, efficient use of resources and improved control contribute to a higher Internal Rate of Return (IRR) for investor-owned funds.
With the opening of the Global Monitoring Centre and the implementation of Meteocontrol's VCOM software, Obton is able to set new milestones in efficient and sustainable portfolio management. (mfo)
