For a single-digit million amount, the Dresden-based system provider Solarwatt has acquired the Dutch company Reconvert. Reconvert, based in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands, specialises, among other things, in the development and production of power electronics for battery storage. The company also develops electronic solutions with high-speed processors and the associated control systems.
Next step towards sector coupler
The company will continue to trade under the name Reconvert and the 20 jobs will be retained. Reconvert's headquarters will also remain in Nieuwegein in the province of Utrecht. With the takeover, Solarwatt is taking the next step. This is because Reconvert and Solarwatt Innovation have already been working closely together for several years in the development of home storage systems. "We are consistently continuing our development towards a sector coupler by further strengthening our know-how in the field of power electronics for storage systems and inverters through the acquisition," Sven Böhm, Chief Financial Officer at Solarwatt, explains the acquisition.
Reconvert concentrates on business development
However, the management of Reconvert will be divided between the current boss Arno Van Zwam and Solarwatt's head of technology Armin Froitzheim. For Reconvert, becoming part of the Solarwatt family is an advantage with regard to the procurement of materials, sales, logistics and further business development. "This means that from now on we can concentrate on what we really enjoy and what we are good at: product development," explains Arno Van Zwam. The integration of Reconvert into Solarwatt is expected to be finalised in the coming weeks. (su/mfo)
