From 7-9 May, French companies will be showcasing their expertise at the France Pavilion in Munich. Organised by Business France, the joint stand is located in Hall A4, at the heart of the photovoltaics, solar thermal, off-grid technologies and related services sections.
The French solar industry is undergoing a period of intense development. Following a rapid upturn since the COVID crisis driven by rising demand, political support measures and the commitment of the industry, the pace of new installations has almost doubled from 2.8 GW in 2021 to over 5 GW in 2024.

The industry now employs around 67,000 people and generates annual revenue of €14 billion, equivalent to the French market for electric vehicles. Tax revenues exceed €2 billion per year, of which €85 million goes directly to local authorities.
A booming market
The industry is experiencing record growth, with an increase of 64 per cent in the residential segment and 146 per cent in the commercial and industrial segment. At the same time, a strategic balance is emerging: In view of the strong growth in electricity generation from renewable energies – particularly solar energy – and the continuing moderate level of consumption, the French government has slightly revised its photovoltaic targets downwards in order to ensure a balance between supply and demand.

However, this consolidation phase is not slowing down the sector, but rather paving the way for large-scale industrial projects such as gigafactories and production facilities for strategic components.

The French solar energy sector is undergoing a transition towards a more structured and sovereign industry.
A confident industry
The eleven companies represented at the France Pavilion at booth A4.140 are examples of the technological and industrial strength of the French solar industry. The French Renewable Energy Association (SER) supports the industry in raising its international profile and is accompanying the energy transition in France. (hcn)
