The Alpine-pv.ch platform is a joint project of Bern University of Applied Sciences BFH, Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences OST, Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana SUPSI and Zurich University of Applied Sciences ZHAW. It provides up-to-date information and research findings on alpine photovoltaic systems as well as alpine research and pilot plants and promotes the networking of research and practice in the field of photovoltaics. The aim is to efficiently incorporate research findings and practical experience into ongoing projects.
One third of Alpine plants withdrawn or rejected
In addition to detailed information on the progress of individual projects, expertise on Alpine photovoltaic systems is also provided. Interviews with the project managers identify the technical challenges and are intended to point out solutions. In contrast to traditional research projects, where initial results are only presented after the project has been completed, the platform will publish the results in specialist articles as soon as the knowledge has been gained.

Through this initiative, the four participating universities want to make a contribution to the energy transition in Switzerland. The platform shows, for example, that all planned plants would generate an annual energy yield of 939 gigawatt hours, but that more than half of the projects are still in the planning phase - and a good third of the plants have been withdrawn or rejected.
