The Smart Solar Box is brought to the flat roof by crane and unfolded by the installers. All they need for the installation is a cordless screwdriver. Because of the innovative concept, three people can install a 200-kilowatt system in a single day. So Smartvolt's solution could also cushion the shortage of skilled workers.

Without roof penetration, the system can be installed on flat roofs made of foil, bitumen or gravel with an inclination of up to 5 degrees. The entire weight, including ballast, is carried by the crane, so that no one has to carry modules and heavy stones in windy or hot weather. This also improves the health and safety of the workers. Since the solar box can be both quickly dismantled and reassembled, the system can also be easily installed on roofs in need of renovation. Module optimisers and module inverters can be factory-integrated into the system, which is made of coated steel.
203 foldable systems in one and a half days
The new version 5.0 has been optimised for solar modules with half-cells up to 570 watts, but is also perfectly suited for solar modules with 440 watts output. Smartvolt has already proven this in dozens of reference projects over the past years. These include installations by Nyffenegger Solar from Switzerland, which has been installing the solar box since 2018. The company installed 203 of the foldable systems for the first 250-kilowatt system. Company boss Beat Nyffenegger recalls: "We covered the entire roof in one and a half days. With a conventional installation system, it would have taken us two weeks." (nhp/mfo)
