Mounting systems that follow the sun, so-called tracking systems, are already more profitable than a fixed system. And adding bifacial modules provides even higher yield increases: up to ten per cent. Since the top assembly and the drive system come pre-assembled, Schletter says that the tracker can be installed almost as quickly as any fixed mounting system.
At the heart of the tracker is its drive system. It operates entirely without the use of hydraulic dampers, thus preventing a dangerous build-up of resonance under wind loads. The system utilises a self-locking mechanism in every leg that automatically engages when the module row is not in motion. This newly developed drive system helps to eliminate swaying as a result of wind.
The Schletter Group recently established new headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. (mfo)
