Photovoltaic modules can be effectively protected from high snow loads thanks to precise tracking. Previously, the early warning system offered greater security on flat roofs, and it is now also available to planners and installers for pitched roofs with tile coverings. The K2 Buddy contains sensors that are attached beneath one of the modules to continuously measure the weight of snow on the system.
The data can be viewed digitally and in real time via the K2 Buddy app. With its intuitive user interface, it provides both the installer and the system owner with clear information on current conditions at module level and sends push notifications when load values are too high and action is needed. This helps avoid unnecessary roof inspections and reduces the effort required for snow removal.
With a few additional components, the K2 Buddy can now also be installed on roof pitches between 15° and 45°, with rafter spacing from 0.55 to 1.2 metres, when used in combination with the K2 SingleHook 3S roof hook and the K2 SingleRail 36 in a single-layer setup. A three-minute YouTube video shows just how easy it is to install the K2 Buddy on tiled roofs. (nhp)
