VillaZero is a development project run by Fiskarhedenvillan, Mondo Arkitekter and Structor Byggteknik Dalarna together with support from Region Dalarna. GruppSol has been responsible for the house's complete solar PV solution and renewable energy systems with its product Smart Solar Roof.
The purpose of the project is to build a carbon-neutral detached house, which has created a unique opportunity for everyone involved to learn how to build for a more sustainable future. The Jury of the Solar Energy Prize hopes that VillaZero can be a step towards inspiring the single-family home market to standardize solar PV systems. GruppSol has been involved in the project from feasibility study to completed implementation.
New standard for roofs and energy solutions of the future
“This year's facility is one of Sweden's finest awards in solar energy and we at GruppSol are really proud to be a part of receiving this. As a partner to Fiskarhedenvillan, we have through our green solutions with the innovative Smart Solar Roof, contributed to VillaZero's goals and vision of the future carbon neutral houses”, says GruppSol's CEO Daniel Magnergård.
“This prestigious award is a confirmation that we are on the right track in our quest to reach a sustainable Nordic region by setting a new standard for the roofs and energy solutions of the future. I would like to extend a big thank you to everyone at Fiskarhedenvillan, GruppSol and other partners who worked purposefully to realize the vision”, Magnergård added.
Enable a greener Sweden
The prize has been awarded by Svensk Solenergi since 2004 with the aim of inspiring and disseminating knowledge about innovative ideas that drive development in the industry.

“With the Solar Energy Prize, we want to arouse interest in Swedish solar energy and enable a greener Sweden. GruppSol must be praised for having developed a technology and solution that is aesthetically pleasing, has a minimal environmental impact and provides efficient production of renewable electricity. Extra fun is that the solar roof is part of Fiskarhedenvillan's regular range”, says Anna Werner, CEO of Svensk Solenergi.
Jury statement
“With tasteful design and good profitability for the photovoltaic system, Fiskarhedenvillan takes us into the future with responsibility for sustainability. The ambition to influence the construction industry by offering environmentally friendly and carbon-neutral single-family homes with solar systems as an important ingredient, while the project shows good system thinking, appeals to the jury. The hope is that VillaZero can be a step towards and inspire the single-family home market to standardize photovoltaic systems.
The gender perspective in the installation team hopes the jury will inspire more women to work with solar energy. For the development of solar, the single-family home market is important, both in terms of public opinion formation and the availability of technology. Solar systems are also increasing interest in energy use in general and energy efficiency in particular”. (hcn)
