Valentin’s GeoT*SOL allows users to choose between different heat sources and system configurations specific to their location. A key feature is the integration of solar thermal systems for domestic hot water or space heating. Requirements, losses and consumption are determined as a result of a dynamic minute-by-minute simulation. These form the basis on which electricity consumption, the annual coefficient of performance and costs are calculated, taking into account off-periods and tariffs. Given these parameters, GeoT*SOL evaluates the efficiency of the system. Heating cost and yield are calculated for the heat pump and a comparison system.
One other useful feature is an interface to Valentin Software’s photovoltaics planning tool PV*SOL: This can be used to directly determine the power supplied by a PV system to the heat pump system or to dimension the PV array needed to power a specific heat pump. (mfo)
