The German IEC 60675-3 standard defines the radiation efficiency that an electric heater must meet in order to be considered an infrared heater. Vitramo heating elements of the VH series actually perform better than the required 40 per cent. The radiation efficiency and the heating time, also defined in the standard, are the most important criteria for an infrared heater.

All heaters give off heat to a room in three different ways: as convection heat, radiant heat and by conduction. These proportions vary depending on the heater and where it is installed. The great advantage of infrared heaters such as the Vitramo heating elements of the VH series is based on their high proportion of radiant heat, which acts directly on surfaces. (mfo)
