Outlook 2021:

Fronius is expanding its portfolio

Energy solutions for detached houses, companies or large-scale PV systems – there are pioneering new solutions from Fronius for every requirement. The hydrogen pioneer is also bringing together all of its expertise at the company’s Steinhaus site in Upper Austria and working towards a future with renewable hydrogen.

Next year Fronius will be launching numerous new products and extending its range of digital services even further to meet the rising demand for high-quality photovoltaic solutions. “We’ve increased our production capacity significantly and completely restructured our production lines with the latest technology. We are also going the extra mile in terms of sustainability. When it comes to product design, we use recyclable raw materials and 100% renewable energy for production, we’ve reduced our CO2 emissions for transport by 27% over 2 years and are focusing on the durability of our inverters – both through active cooling and also an innovative service concept and our own repair centre,” states Martin Hackl, Director Solar Energy at Fronius International. ”We are also moving forward in new areas, such as with powerful commercial inverters and our own electric car charging solution.”

Innovations for detached houses and apartment buildings

The inverter revolution, which began with the three-phase Symo GEN24 continues with the single-phase Primo GEN24 Plus . The Primo will be available at the end of the first quarter of 2021  in power categories ranging from 3 to 6 kW and offers all the outstanding features such as needs-based backup power options, Multi Flow Technology, active cooling, SuperFlex Design and integrated shade management. A number of open interfaces enable excess PV energy to be used for heat pumps or e-mobility. To complete the offering, Fronius is also working on its own e-mobility solution so that customers can use their own solar power to charge their cars. This will mean that everything is available from a single source, from solar power generation to intelligent PV-optimised charging of electric cars.

Fronius Tauro – the powerful inverter for companies and large-scale systems

The commercial inverter, Tauro, is set to follow from mid-20212. This is ideal for roof-mounted and free-standing systems and is available in different variants and power categories ranging from 50 to 100 kW. The costs of the PV system are minimised across the entire service life (TCO ) thanks to an unprecedented combination of flexibility in system design, incredible resilience and maximum output up to an ambient temperature of 50 °C, as well as easy power stage set replacement and the fastest servicing on the market.

Hydrogen expertise under one roof

Hydrogen that has been produced in an eco-friendly manner plays a central role when it comes to achieving our vision of 24 hours of sun. It allows for efficient seasonal storage of renewable energy and conversion back into electricity. This is why hydrogen pioneer Fronius is building a modern hydrogen centre at its site in Steinhaus, Upper Austria, where it has brought all its resources under one roof. “Over 30 experts will work diligently here towards the future of sustainable energy with hydrogen. Research, Development, Production and Sales will find a new home here and training sessions and customer presentations will also be held here soon,” summarises Thomas Rührlinger, who is responsible for the business development of hydrogen technology at Fronius International GmbH.

In terms of mobility, hydrogen impresses as an emissions-free energy source with high power density, which enables large ranges and can be filled up quickly. These advantages are combined in the Fronius Solhub, a turnkey compact system for generating, storing, reconverting and filling up with green hydrogen. Several Solhub systems will be created in 2021, one of which will be directly next to the hydrogen centre and will be even more innovative and flexible than the existing pilot system in Thalheim.
