Formerly focused on heating technology, Viessmann has in recent years been successfully realigning to electricity-related systems. The company combines photovoltaics, electricity storage, fuel cell heaters, heat pumps, ventilation systems and direct electric heating systems. After all, heating systems in new buildings tend no longer be based on circulating hot water.
Installing a costly heating system with hydraulic piping, burner, gas line, chimney and radiators often does not pay off in the face of falling demand for heating. Instead of hydraulic underfloor heating, electric heating mats are much easier to install. Viessmann is one of the few companies on the market to offer its own fuel cell systems to cope with winter electricity as well as higher electricity demand in general. Sales figures in Germany have doubled last year, reaching 2,000 units.
