Aiko increases solar module efficiency to well over 24 per cent

Module manufacturer Aiko has started delivering its latest Comet series panels in Europe. The modules achieve an output of 665 watts with an efficiency of 24.6 per cent. Aiko has thus taken the next step in the development of modules with higher efficiencies.

No shading due to ribbon cables

In addition, the company has achieved efficiency not only on laboratory cells or a pilot line, but also in mass production. Like all Aiko panels, the cells of the new Coment modules are contacted exclusively on the back. The advantage of this so-called back-contact technology is that the lack of metallisation on the front of the cells allows them to capture sunlight over their entire surface. The avoidance of shading ensures more power on the same surface area and therefore greater efficiency.

First projects already realised

The new modules are already on the market in China. Aiko has already realised several projects with them on the roofs of residential and commercial buildings in Tianjin and Shandong. With the market launch in Europe, the new modules can also be installed on roofs here. (su/mfo)
