Birds actively build nests under PV panels, which results in soiling or damage to PV panels. BirdBlocker is the easy-to-install solution that can help to prevent this. But why should PV panels be protected against birds? The output from the panels decreases when the natural ventilation is restricted by twigs and other nesting material. The hotter the panels get, the lower its efficiency. There is even an increased risk of fire. The twigs the birds use may also cause scratches on the back sheet of the panel, which can result in problems with ground potential leakage. After installation of BirdBlocker, the chance of birds nesting under the PV panels will be minimised, thereby also reducing the risk of soiling caused by the birds. The BirdBlocker system can be applied to the edges of most models of PV panel and is practically invisible. It is at its most effective when applied as part of the installation process for any new panels.
According to the Director of Van der Valk Solar Systems, Denis de Vette, adding BirdBlocker to the stock assortment is a logical decision: “We are a one-stop shop for solar systems and everything to do with the mounting of PV-panels. Adding BirdBlocker to our portfolio gives our customers yet another solution to increase the longevity of their PV panels.” The BirdBlocker will now be available through Van der Valk Solar Systems.
