There is a lot of movement on the solar module market. Various influencing factors cause that solar panels from European manufacturers are increasingly being demanded at the moment. Thomas Dessoi from Luxor Solar reports that the company currently receives twice as many inquiries as originally expected for this time. Luxor Solar can meet the demand, Dessoi says.
Some customers even offer down payments
With its partners Krannich and EWS, Luxor Solar has already reacted to this development at an early stage. New customers, who now asked at Luxor Solar, would, of course, also be served. Due to the increased demand some customers even would offer down payments in order to secure the goods, Dessoi reports.
Large exports to the US - buzzing Chinese market
The reasons for this development are complex. On the one hand, it is assumed that a large number of Asian manufacturers are currently supplying a large quantity of goods to the US market. Obviously they want to avoid possible import tariffs on solar cells, that are discussed at the moment. On the other hand, the insolvency proceedings at SolarWorld forced installers to look out for other sources. Additionally, the high-build up in China drives demand. A total of 24 gigawatts PV has been installed in the first half of 2017, which is several gigawatts more than planned at the beginning of the year.
Increasing prices especially for high-performance solar modules
Moreover a large number of projects are currently being implemented with high-performance modules. Hence there is special pressure in this segment. Prices for high-performance mono PERC cells have not fallen as expected, but have risen significantly. Prices in the poly segment are also rising at the moment. It is not expected that the market situation will ease within the next time. (PF/HCN)
