The team has now further developed a first small series in close cooperation with the Technical University of Cologne. Initial tests of the prototypes have already confirmed the expected performance data and the next step is to have the product certified by TÜV.
The solar roof tile combines photovoltaics with solar thermal energy. The overlapping of the individual solar roof tiles creates an air channel. This simultaneously provides rear ventilation and thus cooling of the solar cells, which increases the efficiency of electricity generation and the service life of the cells.
At the Intersolar Europe trade fair in Munich, the MH solar roof tile was to be presented in the form of sample roof surfaces with fully functional prototypes. For obvious reasons, this will now have to be postponed until 2021. (mfo)
