Iran goes solar - new PV plant in Rafsanjan inaugurated

With a feed-in-tariff between 12 and 24 Eurocent/kWh, a solar irradiation between 1,800 and 1,900 kWh per square meter, a growing power demand and Special Economic Zones like in Rafsanjan Iran offers auspicious solar business opportunities. The 1.2 MW solar PV plant in Rafsanjan has been realized with full equity from KPV Solar, a member of Austrian PV Invest Group. 4,560 panels from Austrian Kioto Solar, 38 Fronius Eco 27 inverters and 1,140 piles from Alumero have been installed.

Impressive qualitiy of installation

The quality of installation is quite impressive, as pv Europe could see at a visit of the plant this Tuesday. For instance grounding and cabling has been installed very properly by local EPC contractor Mehradbad Renewable Energy from Kerman. A yield of 1,900 kWh/kW is expected according to Gerhard Rabensteiner, Managing Partner of KPV Solar.

Special Economic Zone offers additional incentives

The Special Economic Zone in Rafsanjan close to Kerman (740,000 inhabitants) offers extra tax and tariff incentives like a ten year exemption from corporation tax (25 percent). KPV Solar plans to install further 6 x 10 MW solar parks within the Zone in the coming months. Also other local businesses in the region are interested in investing in PV, Rabensteiner told pv Europe. This Sunday there will be a meeting with a logistic company from Kerman, who wants to install a 2 x 5 MW rooftop solar installation in the Iranian city.
