Let us show you the highlights of The smarter E in Munich

Even more innovations, products and ideas: Our pv Guided Tours will again present the most important innovations and exhibitors in 2020. The tours at a glance:

DC solar generators: The tour includes high-performance and smart modules, DC cabling, as well as cleaning, maintenance and drones for system inspection. Innovative systems for monitoring solar parks will also be presented. The module market continues to be segmented. Polycrystalline modules are eroding the performance advantage of standard monocrystalline modules. Monocrystalline high-performance modules continue to increase their efficiency. Bifacial modules also play an increasing role, as do modules with integrated power electronics. In these modules, the DC optimiser or even the inverter (AC modules) is located in the junction box. Our tour guide is Malte Forstat of photovoltaik in Berlin.

Electricity storage for private applications (home storage): The market for electricity storage will continue to be driven by pre-assembled systems for private solar customers. A mass market is emerging that separates the wheat from the chaff - thanks to the innovative drive of the manufacturers. The energy density of batteries has not been exhausted yet; ease of installation and digital integration are also important trends. Our tour guide is Herbert Grab of Digit Media in Pliezhausen.

Electricity storage for commercial and industrial applications: In the future, smaller commercial enterprises will be supplied with complete systems that can be built up modularly from smaller units. Suppliers of larger power storage units are also developing a project business in this sector, where the storage unit is designed and installed specifically to meet the needs of a company. Here, special functions such as peak shaving, demand side management and grid stabilisation (regulating power, phase shifting) play an increasingly important role. Off-grid solutions will also be presented on this tour. Our tour guides are storage experts Dietmar Geckeler and Niels Hendrik Petersen from Berlin.

Mounting systems: The racks and substructures required for the installation of solar modules are far from having reached the end of their technological development. On flat and pitched roofs, the trend is towards pre-assembled systems (kits) that can be quickly combined for larger systems. There is also potential for reducing installation costs through innovations in the ground-mounted sector and new applications are evolving in the field of floating PV. Our tour guides are Rüdiger Mühlhausen and Manfred Gorgus of Solar Professionell in Tutzing.

Building-integration (BIPV): The solar energy transition is also slowly reaching local authorities and municipalities. For architects, in-roof systems, solar roof tiles and large-scale facade systems are important. We present the most important innovations in this young but very exciting field of photovoltaics including PV on green roofs. Our tour guide is Sven Ullrich, editor-in-chief of the architecture portal Solar Age.

Innovative power electronics: Intelligent power electronics combine solar power with heat generation, cooling, ventilation and cooling. The inverters are the brains of any solar system, and they are the brains of a self-consumption system. From now on, they and the energy management systems not only control solar strings and grid feed, but a concert of different hybrid power suppliers (PV, CHP, fuel cells) and storage batteries (DC or AC). Solar cooling and the generation of process cooling are becoming increasingly important as well as design software. Our tour guide is the solar expert Manuela Jakobi from Paderborn.

E-mobility: Stationary storage batteries and inverters also interact with the charging technology for electric vehicles, which are becoming increasingly important in the day-to-day business of the installation engineer. All operating data comes together in monitoring, which is the basis for reliable and fault-free operation of the installations. This tour takes you to the Power2Drive trade fair and to other exhibitors at the Munich trade fair grounds. It shows the innovations in charging technology, solar carports and e-cars. Our tour guide is Karsten Schäfer, trade journalist from Hanover. (HS/mfo)
