Germany's module manufacturers are expanding: Solarwatt received two three-stage laminators plus additional material delivered to the factory in Dresden at the end of last week. Eight heavy goods vehicles of excess width and excess weight were used for this purpose. From the motorway, the transport was escorted to the Solarwatt factory in Dresden-Klotzsche by the police.
Around eleven weeks in transit
The total weight of the delivery is more than 250 tonnes. The containers were loaded with the help of a mobile crane, which lifted them into the production halls. The laminators came from Asia and were on the road for about eleven weeks - first by ship to Bremerhaven, then by heavy goods vehicle.
The laminators are used in the new production line for durable glass-glass modules. After 30 years, Solarwatt's double glass modules still have at least 87 per cent of their original output. Solarwatt grants a product and performance guarantee of 30 years on glass-glass modules.
A total of 100 million euros invested
Solarwatt will invest more than 100 million euros in the further development of the company by 2023, of which around 15 million euros will be invested in the new module production. The new glass-glass modules are scheduled to roll off the assembly lines in Dresden from late summer.
