The typical challenges in the Netherlands in the construction of PV power plants on open land are routines for the solar experts. “In contrast to last fall’s Veendam project, this is a summer construction site,” explains Goldbeck's Head of Solar Netherlands, Tobias Friedrich. Less mud and less large equipment means that work can be accomplished more efficiently. Construction began in June, and the power plant is scheduled for completion at the end of September. The 15.1 MW plant in Andijk north of Amsterdam is being built on a former commercial land.
High-efficiency PERC modules
“We have opted for an east-west orientation in order to improve the performance ratio. Thus, the 11.6 hectare area could be used efficiently, also by using high-efficiency PERC PV modules,” says Friedrich. In this way, the plant generates 1.3 MWp per hectare, and is particularly fostering the CO2 footprint. Goldbeck`s capability to execute solar installations very time efficient and in full compliance with health & safety regulations is also crucial for a successful completion of the project.
All in all, Astronergy and Goldbeck are satisfied to contribute actively to the energy transition in the Netherlands and to ensure clean energy for the future.
Several major projects currently in the pipeline
For the current fiscal year, Goldbeck Solar Netherlands is planning additional constructions of multiple PV projects across the country, both greenfield and roof top systems. Here, The Netherlands plays strategically a very important role. Several other major projects are currently in the pipeline, in partnership with Astronergy as well as with other partners. Goldbeck Solar with its extensive solar track record is currently also planning and acquiring large-scale PV power plants in England, Germany, Thailand, Mexico, and Chile. (HCN)
