Korean investment in German PV recycler Flaxres

Flaxres is part of the Econnext Group and specialises in the development of environmentally friendly recycling solutions for photovoltaic modules. The technology developed and patented by Flaxres is based on short-term high-temperature heating using flash lamps, or "flash lamp annealing", and is not only more environmentally friendly, but also more cost-efficient and significantly faster than conventional processes, which are usually based on mechanical shredding or thermal utilisation (pyrolysis) of the modules.

According to the company, the method developed by Flaxres allows all composite materials to be separated from one another and returned to the material cycle.

Looking for global markets

The two company founders Michael Rudolf Heuschkel and Harald Gross have been working on the technology for recycling photovoltaic modules since mid-2016. Following the successful development of the process in the test phase, Flaxres is now working with renowned companies from the recycling industry.

Together with the Korean partner, the Flaxres technology will now be used internationally and thus feed end-of-life PV modules into the circular economy worldwide.
