Professionals from ten solar companies took part in the three-day-training in Ballycastle.

Solarwatt is stepping up its rooftop solar PV activity for homes and SMEs in Ireland. The company teamed up with its exclusive distribution and full-service partner BHC Distributors to prepare installers to serve growing demand from both sides of the Irish border for renewable energy and energy storage.

Professionals from ten solar companies took part in a three-day training session in Ballycastle, becoming certified installers of Solarawatt`s MyReserve battery storage systems. Further courses are planned. MyReserve 500 and 800 are already available to installers. The MyReserve Matrix modular system is due to launch in the UK and Ireland in Q1 2018. In addition to battery storage training, participants also received two days’ training to become certified Fronius service partners, provided by the leading Austrian inverter manufacturer.

Growing interest and sales

Instruction for the 11 delegates focused on households with MyReserve 500, 800 and Matrix storage systems. MyReserve is taking off in Ireland, as shown by positive responses from installers and end users. BHC sold seven 4.4 kWh and 6.6 kWh MyReserve Matrix units immediately after the session. These were shipped and are being installed before end November. Erik Frentz, Solarwatt’s international trainer, praised BHC’s selection of skilled participants and was pleased with the outcome of the training session.

Flexible energy storage solution

MyReserve Matrix is a simplified modular power storage solution that is adaptable, flexible and sturdy, supporting residential and commercial needs from 2kWh to 2MWh. In October Matrix won first place in the Smart Energy Storage residential category at the Solar + Power Awards in Amsterdam, and this year also received the Intersolar EES award for the second time. The battery module and intelligent battery management system (BMS) are each housed in solid, secure aluminum blocks, so no additional cladding is required. Each module is the size of a shoebox and weighs less than 25kg. And because the system can be built to exact user specifications, it is extremely economical. (HCN)
