The contract has been signed between the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and CorEnergy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sureserve Group, the social housing energy group. Under the contract, the DIO will be supplied with nearly 35,000 Qcells solar panels for a solar project on DIO premises in the UK.
CorEnergy Limited selected Qcells solar modules following a rigorous independent technical output and testing process. Qcells' Q.PEAK DUO L-G6.3 low carbon footprint solar modules were able to meet the MoD's criteria. The requirement was for solar components to be manufactured to the highest environmental, technical and ethical standards.
Low in CO2 and fully transparent
In recent months, questions have been raised about the transparency of the global solar cell supply chain following reports of unethical and environmentally harmful practices at certain stages of the solar cell raw material production process.

However, Qcells' certified low carbon footprint modules are manufactured with wafers from Scandinavia, which are obtained through hydropower. This manufacturing process is not only low in CO2, but also 100 per cent transparent. This allowed the Q.PEAK DUO L-G6.3 modules to pass the rigorous independent testing. (mfo)
