The dimensions of the new lithium-ion storage units from Powerball are identical to those of the lead models. Both come in the ideal size for white goods - 60 x 60 x 90 centimetres - and use the same square housing. However, the two model series can be distinguished by the colour of the door: the lithium-ion models feature a cool blue, while the lead battery is decorated by an energetic green.
Both the lithium-ion and the lead models produced by Powerball Systems provide operators with the same flexibility in terms of interfaces, energy management, emergency power and stand-alone functions. Only in the AC and DC connection types do the lead models offer more connection variants than the lithium-ion models.
The capacity of the new lithium-ion series starts at 6.7 kilowatt-hours, while the larger models offer 10.1 kilowatt-hours, 20.2 kilowatt-hours or 30.2 kilowatt-hours and can be extended in ten kilowatt-hours steps up to one megawatt-hour. The new series is not a departure from lead storage battery systems, said CEO Mathias Grässltold the press. “We remain convinced that our storage units featuring lead battery technology have many advantages over lithium-ion storage batteries.” (nhp)
