Intersolar and ees Europe 2017 took place in Munich with euphoric mood. With an expected expansion of 80 gigawatts, the global PV market once again is expected to reach record levels this year. Already in the previous year, new PV installations had risen by about 50 percent compared to the previous year.
"In our vision, 24 hours of sunshine, there will be an energy future where all energy comes from renewable sources," says Martin Hackl, Head of the Solar Energy Business Unit at Fronius International GmbH " By paying attention to the four pillars of this future - to generate, distribute, store and consume energy intelligently and efficiently. "
Exhibition space increase by 40 percent for energy storage
The number of exhibitors at this year's Intersolar and ees Europe rose to more than 1,100, (2016, 1.073). 254 companies from the energy storage sector presented their products, services and solutions at 17,000 square meters at ees Europe. The exhibition space grew by 40 per cent compared to the previous year and the number of exhibitors by almost 20 per cent. Together with the Intersolar Europe nearly 440 exhibitors showcased innovative energy storage technology. More than 1,700 participants from 77 countries visited the Intersolar and ees Europe Conference and their side events in 2017. This represents an increase of around 30 percent compared to the previous year.
Growing trend for digitalization
The energy industry is currently undergoing a change due to the increasing digitalization. The new energy world was therefore at the heart of Intersolar and ees Europe. This year's trade fairs focused on the intelligent networking of various types of production as well as efficient storage systems and the optimized use of energy. Visitors at the trade fairs learned everything about the challenges of efficient, safe and cost-effective integration of renewable energies and the new business models that are emerging in the energy industry of the future. "Only with digitalisation is it possible to connect all components of the sector cluster, ie electricity, heat and mobility, more intelligently and efficiently. We need solutions that ensure communication between these areas and enable optimization across sectors, "says Dr. Bernd Koch, Head of Decentralized Energy Systems at Siemens AG.
Smart Renewable Energy
The special show Smart Renewable Energy and the forum of the same name were very well received by the visitors. Here exhibitors and experts from research presented their solutions, which contribute to the interaction of renewable energies and storage in a smart and efficient power grid. A particular topic was the intelligent technology, which analyzes and optimizes the electricity generation and consumption, and links various technical facilities. "The new energy world is decentralized and regenerative - and has long been referring not only to the production sector. In order to sensitize the population to this issue, we have to make the solutions for our customers as simple as possible - as with our SolarCloud. This is the only way to give them the opportunity to participate in the new energy market, "says Franco Gola, Vice President of PV & Batteries at E.ON Energie Deutschland GmbH.
Power2Drive and EM-Power
In the future, the organizers of Intersolar and ees Europe will bundle four energy fairs around renewable and intelligent energy solutions under the umbrella of "The smarter E". From 2018 the topics of regenerative electricity generation, distribution, storage and intelligent use of energy will be covered. Next year, in addition to the renowned trade fairs Intersolar and ees Europe, two new energy fairs will also be taking place under the umbrella of The Smarter E: the Power2Drive, the trade fair for charging infrastructure and electromobility, as well as EM-Power, the trade fair for intelligent energy production in industry and electronics buildings. The new trade fairs will take place for the first time parallel to Intersolar and ees Europe from the 20th to the 22nd of June 2018 at the Messe München. (HCN)
