The Swiss energy supplier Axpo has developed Emost, a mobile commercial storage system. It is intended for supplying power to construction sites, events or in emergencies and replaces the diesel generators that have been common up to now. In addition, the Emost can reinforce weak grids at certain points in order to operate large consumers.
Not only the purchase price was relevant
For the market launch, the solution went to a new group of investors led by former Axpo employees. Axpo sought a suitable buyer for this purpose in a tendering process. The contract was awarded to a consortium consisting of the existing management of Emost and other Swiss entrepreneurs.

The deciding criterion was not only an attractive financial offer, but also continuity in management and the optimal transfer of the entire technology. All relevant assets, rights and contracts were transferred to the newly founded Emost AG at the end of October 2022. Both sides do not want to disclose any information about the sales price.
Market launch by technology developers
The founding team of Emost AG consists of the entire management team that has developed the technology over the past years. Benedikt Domke will become managing director of Emost AG. The long-time head of Axpo's Renewables Division, Christoph Sutter, has decided to leave Axpo and, as Chairman of the Board and co-owner, lead the commercialisation and rapid international expansion of the now market-ready technology.
Concentrating on the core business
Axpo justifies the sale by saying that the company wants to concentrate even more on its own core business in the future. This consists primarily of the construction and operation of large solar and wind power plants. In the area of batteries, the focus is also on large-scale plants in combination with solar and wind parks. (su/mfo)
