PPA:

Baywa r.e. invites tenders for ten terawatt hours of green electricity in Europe

The tender is scheduled to start in autumn 2022. The electricity offered will be supplied to several customers who want to reliably cover their electricity needs with renewables. The exact terms of the tender are currently being drawn up; further information will be announced by Baywa in the coming months. "With our PPA tender, we are supporting the energy transition for commercial and industrial customers who are looking for an affordable and reliable supply of green electricity," says Benedikt Ortmann, Global Director Solar Projects at Baywa r.e.

PPAs offer companies a reliable energy supply

BayWa r.e. is seeing very high demand from companies for green electricity, particularly in the EMEA region. This demand is driven by increasing sustainability obligations in the face of climate change and expectations from customers and investors, as well as by the ongoing energy crisis in Europe. Long-term power purchase agreements, known as PPAs among experts, offer companies a reliable energy supply and protect against future price increases. At the same time, they enable the realisation of new renewable energy projects.

These advantages contribute to corporate PPAs playing an important role in actively promoting the energy transition, explains the project developer. BayWa r.e. has already concluded agreements with leading global companies such as AB InBev, Nestlé and Heidelberg Cement. (nhp/mfo)
