Qcells has been on its way from module manufacturer to system provider and energy service provider for many years. For many years, the company has also been building solar and wind power plants itself in an independent business division called Green Energy Solutions. The project planners and designers of Qcells have already erected one gigawatt of plant capacity - most of it in France under the previous owner, the RES Group.
9.25 gigawatts of solar capacity in the order book
Now the power plant division will become independent and operate under the name Q Energy Solutions. The new company has a project pipeline of a whopping twelve gigawatts of plant capacity. Of these, 9.25 gigawatts are solar, 2.25 gigawatts wind power and 500 megawatts storage projects.

Most of these are being built in France, where the pipeline comprises five gigawatts. In Spain, four gigawatts of plant capacity are planned and in Portugal Q Energy is building another two gigawatts of green power capacity. In addition, there is one gigawatt of plants in Germany, which Q Energy already has in its order books at the start.
Developing complete energy solutions
With the new brand identity and more than 20 years of experience in the power plant business with renewable energies, the Q Energy Group wants to advance the energy transition in Europe. In the future, the new company will build complete energy solutions - from solar energy to onshore and offshore wind power to energy storage and green hydrogen.
In addition to the existing markets, business in Italy, Great Britain and the Netherlands will be expanded. Overall, however, Q Energy will not only plan and build the power plants, but also take over their operation and maintenance. In addition, electricity sales will also be expanded. The business with private and commercial plants, on the other hand, will remain with Qcells.
Active throughout Europe
Q Energy will be based in Berlin and will have a direct subsidiary, Hanwha Solutions Corporation. The Korean company develops sustainable solutions for various business areas, from clean energy to advanced materials. Berlin will also be home to Q Energy Europe. The latter also has offices in Madrid and soon in Portugal.
