ASEU and it’s member companies presented the advancements and potential of the Ukrainian solar energy sector. Their booth featured Ukrainian companies that operate under EPC contracts and have branches in Europe, including Kness, SolarSteel Construction and EnerhoSyla Group.
The association comprises more than 45 members, including Ukrainian and international companies involved in various aspects of solar energy, such as distribution, manufacturing, installation, legal support, and large-scale industrial solar power plants.
Ukrainian businesses have compelling offers for European countries, particularly in the field of SPP installation. The main competitive advantages of Ukrainian businesses are speed, high quality, and a creative approach, according to Artem Semenyshyn, CEO of ASEU.
High level of engineering expertise
Ukrainians have demonstrated their ability to quickly adapt to foreign technologies and develop their own, overcome any obstacles, and work rapidly and efficiently. The qualities exhibited by the Ukrainian army on the battlefield are also evident in the Ukrainian business sector. This recognition enhances the prestige of Ukrainian businesses and underscores their reliability.
Another advantage of Ukrainian SPP installers is their high level of engineering expertise, ASEU states. This enables them to gain an edge in the market and construct complex projects with high quality and efficiency. Ukraine actively embraces digital technologies in the field of solar energy, ensuring effective and automated system operations.
Ukrainians are not afraid of working beyond the norm and thus operate at a rapid pace. Lastly, Ukrainian companies exhibit a high level of resilience in challenging conditions, making them reliable partners even in unfavorable situations.
At the same time, Ukraine is opening its market to European companies, and it is a highly promising market. In recent years, Ukraine has had one of the highest rates of solar energy development in Europe.
Ukraine has vast territories suitable for the installation of solar power plants and favourable climatic conditions. The country could become one of the largest producers of solar energy in Europe.
Huge PV potential of 416 GW
The European Commission has conducted a study of the needs for grid development and renewable energy in Central and South-Eastern Europe. The authors assessed the potential of renewable energy in the region, taking into account land use restrictions. Ukraine was recognised as the leader, with a total solar generation potential of 416 GW. The solar potential is three times higher than the current installed European capacity.

“We see great potential and mutual benefit from the cooperation between Ukraine and Europe. Ukrainian installation companies can help Europe rapidly increase its solar energy capacity and replace Russian fossil fuels. At the same time, Ukraine requires European investments and technologies, and this need will significantly grow when the active reconstruction of our country begins”, Artem Semenyshyn of ASEU said.

Ukraine's energy transition presents a remarkable opportunity for green technology adoption in the country's energy system. While the solar energy industry in Ukraine faced challenges due to the invasion, resulting in damage to a significant number of solar power plants in the occupied territories, efforts are underway to restore and enhance capacity. Solar energy is a priority in the rebuilding process to compensate for the lost generating capacity caused by the conflict. (hcn)
