Similar to last year's The smarter E in Munich, the mood in the industry is also very good here in Spain. Some of the exhibitors are showing their innovations for the first time. One example is the company Sunman, which develops innovative lightweight modules without cover glass.

Now they are presenting the new module with 520 watts output for the first time, reports Mathias Schorf. The monomodule has 144 half-cells and weighs only 8.6 kilograms. This makes it about 70 per cent lighter than a conventional glass module and allows it to be installed on wings that are not as resilient. This opens up new options and applications for many companies.
Many Turkish solar companies present at the Genera
The organisers were also very satisfied with the start of Genera. This year it brings together 385 exhibitors from 21 countries. Especially the short time since the last edition of the fair in summer 2022 was a challenge, explains Lola González, Director of Genera. In addition to many companies from China and Germany, many Turkish companies are also represented in Madrid, which are pushing into the strongly growing Spanish market. Next year there should be even more.

The manufacturer of the Birdblocker pigeon protection system is also satisfied with the fair. The manufacturer is showing both the solution with ten-centimetre-long needles and the new version with 20-centimetre-long needles. "The demand is clearly there," sums up Hans de Grooth. The system is designed to prevent pigeons from settling under the modules on the roof. "It thus protects against damage and dirt." The Birdblocker strips are fixed to the underside of the module frames with fastening clips. The strips, made of recyclable and UV-resistant plastic, are one metre long, the clips are made of stainless steel. (nhp/mfo)
