Using this natural source for the energy needs of our now industrialised world is a fascinating idea. To achieve this, and to replace the use of energy sources that are harmful to the climate or the environment in the long term, is an important goal and great personal motivation.
Not only because it is the only way to achieve our climate goals. But also because it will reduce our dependence on energy imports and create jobs and more energy value at the local and country level.
Economically worthwhile
This vision can become reality if realising it has economic merits. That doesn't sound visionary, because we are talking about reality. Renewable energies will become widely accepted if they are economically worthwhile for the users. Our task as an industry is to show that this is the case and that solar energy is the energy of the future: competitive, cheap and environmentally friendly.

In the last 15 years, we have made enormous progress on this path - also thanks to state momentum. In the meantime, the industry has taken off in many markets to the extent that it can survive in a market economy. Solar power is now a competitive and mainstream energy source there.
Removing obstacles
Suitable political and infrastructural framework conditions will continue to play an important role in significantly advancing the expansion of solar power - as will the availability of qualified specialists. Obstacles must be removed. The energy transition can be controlled politically, for example through a flexible cap on the expansion of new capacity or tenders for large-scale plants. (mfo)
